What is the BJT?

The BJT, or Business Japanese Proficiency Test, measures how well you can use Japanese in real workplace situations. It is different from a school-style grammar test: the focus is business communication, listening, reading, context, and judgment.

What the BJT Measures

The BJT evaluates practical Japanese used in meetings, emails, customer communication, internal coordination, and workplace problem solving. A high score signals that you can handle professional Japanese under time pressure.

BJT Levels

Scores are reported on a scale that maps to J5 through J1+. J1+ is the strongest level, while J1, J2, J3, J4, and J5 represent progressively earlier stages of business Japanese ability.

Who Should Take It

The test is useful for people working in Japan, job seekers who want to prove business Japanese ability, and learners who already know general Japanese but need workplace communication training.

FAQ

Is the BJT the same as JLPT?
No. JLPT measures general Japanese proficiency, while BJT focuses on business communication and workplace judgment.
Does the BJT have pass or fail?
The BJT is score-based. Candidates receive a score and level instead of a simple pass/fail result.
